Orlova Mogila is a protected area in the Dobrichka Municipality. We recommend you to visit this unique place and look for the beautiful and fragrant peony. The area has preserved remnants of forest steppe vegetation similar to the one characteristic of Dobrudzha in the past. Most of the species in this ecosystem are rare or endangered.
In the distant past Dobrudzha was an endless forest steppe. However, in order to create much-needed land for cultivation and pastures, people began cutting down the forests. As a consequence, for centuries Dobrudzha has been gradually changing its appearance, as the agricultural lands replaced forests and grass ecosystems. This long anthropological influence has made the conservation of the still remaining ecosystems of natural vegetation one of the main tasks of Dobrudzha’s people.
