The route is suitable for any age group, both for organized groups and individual visitors. It fascinates with its natural beauty and cultural and archaeological sites.
Season: almost all year round except during periods of snow and strong wind.
Day 1:
Arrival in Balchik. A guided tour of the beautiful gardens of the Architectural-Park Complex “The Palace” with its collection of cactuses growing in the open – the second largest collection in Europe after the one in Monaco. A walk along the seaside promenade of Balchik. Departure to the “Baltata” Natural Reserve near the village of Batovo. Observation of the flora and fauna of the northernmost European dense forest. On the way there, a stop in the area “Chashkata” (The “Cup”) near Barut Cheshma (Barut Fountain). “Chashkata” is also known as the “Fountain of Wishes” and is famous for its crystal clear, healing water. According to local beliefs, a sip from the water brings health, while a thread thrown into the fountain brings good luck and makes heartfelt wishes come true. Return to Balchik. An afternoon half-day visit to the area “Tuzlata” near Balchik. Possibility for mud treatment in the open (the greatest effect is achieved in the first half of September), spending time on the beach and relaxation. Overnight in Balchik.
Day 2:
Departure to the “Kaliakra” Archaeological and Natural Reserve – one of the 100 National Tourist Sites. On the road: stop at the Visitors’ Center “Kaliakra” in Balgarevo where an interactive exhibition presents the most interesting inhabitants of the Black Sea and the last preserved steppes. Guided tour of Cape Kaliakra. Possible observation of dolphins and birds. Visit to the area “Bolata" – a true paradise for birds along the migratory route Via Pontica. Visit to the “Yailata” Protected Area – the realm of the red peony and the little olive-tree warbler, over which continues Via Pontica. “Yailata” is an Archaeological Reserve. Here you can see an entire cave “city”, composed of 101 caves, further shaped by men, a late antiquity fortress, a Thracian sanctuary and rock tombs. Overnight in Kavarna.
Day 3:
Departure to Dobrich in the morning. Walking tour of the “Saint George” City Park – one of the oldest in the country and an example of landscape gardening of cultural value. Visit to the museum, which exhibits the display “Dobrudzha’s Nature”. Visit the Center for Conservation of Nature and Animals.
