The Chamber Music Week with International Participation is a music event with a long tradition and of national importance. The first edition took place in 1975. It was initiated by Prof. Konstantin Iliev and Maestro Yordan Dafov as an annual celebration of classical music promoting Bulgarian performing arts. The stages in Dobrich welcome affirmed Bulgarian musicians – conductors, soloists and ensembles like Nikolai Evrov, Anton Dikov, Stoyka Milanova, Mincho Minchev, quartet “Dimov”, duo Ganevi, quartet “Eoilina”, ensemble “Sofia soloists”, Sofia chamber choir “L. Pipkov” and many others. The conductors Konstantin Iliev, Vasil Kazandjiev, Emil Tabakov, Vasil Arnaudov, Milko Kolarov and others have taken part in the event.
The past editions of the festival (2002-2013) welcomed Prof. A. Stankov, Prof. Y. Radionov, the piano duo Dora and Anastas Slavchevi, the guitar duo “Valchevi”, the piano trio - Prof. V. Chuchkov, Professor A. Krastev, Prof. E. M. Popova, the quartets “Dimov”, “Forte” and “Quarto”, the academic brass quintet, the percussion ensemble “Poliritmiya”, the chamber choir “St. Trinity”, Lyudmil Nenchev – violin, Lyudmila Gerova – soprano and Evgenia Dundekova - mezzo-soprano, soloists of the Bulgarian chamber orchestra, Dobrich, conducted by Alexey Izmirliev, the duo Rositsa Boyadjieva – flute and Nikolay Temniskov – tuba, the women's chamber ensemble “St. John Chrysostom”, conducted by Eugenia Grigorova, “Angoboy cappella” and the quartet “Quarto”, BKO with conductor Alexey Izmirliev and a soloist Lyudmil Nenchev – violin, the duo Angel Stankov – violin and Bozidar Noev – piano (Austria), the ancient music ensemble “Concerto antico”, Ventsislav Nikolov – cello and Radoslav Nikolov – piano, the vocal ensemble (Japan) conducted by Masako Mukai, the duo Maria Prince – piano (Vienna) and Denitsa Lafchieva – clarinet (London) and other prominent Bulgarian artists.
From 2010 on, the Chamber Music Week includes also international participation.
